Tradelines post within 11–29 days — but the exact timing depends on the card issuer's reporting cycle. Here is everything you need to know to plan ahead.
One of the most common questions we receive — and one of the most important to understand before you buy — is how long it takes for a tradeline to show up on your credit report. The answer is not a single number. It depends on the card issuer's reporting cycle, when in that cycle you are added, and how quickly the credit bureaus process the update. Here is a complete breakdown.
Every credit card issuer reports account information to the credit bureaus on a regular schedule — typically once per month, on or around the statement closing date. This is the date when the issuer sends a snapshot of the account to Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. The snapshot includes the current balance, the credit limit, the payment status, and the list of authorized users on the account.
When you are added as an authorized user, your name is added to the account in the issuer's system. The next time the issuer reports to the bureaus — on the next statement closing date — your name will be included in the report. The bureaus then process the update and add the account to your credit file, which typically takes a few additional days.
The reason tradelines post within 11–29 days is simple math. If you are added to an account the day after the statement closes, you will wait nearly a full month for the next reporting cycle — roughly 29 days. If you are added the day before the statement closes, you will be included in the very next report — roughly 11 days away (accounting for bureau processing time). Most tradelines fall somewhere in between.
Prime Tradelines provides estimated posting dates for every tradeline we sell. These estimates are based on the known reporting cycle of the card issuer. While we cannot guarantee the exact date — card issuers occasionally change their reporting schedules, and bureau processing times vary — our estimates are accurate the vast majority of the time.
If you are buying a tradeline to improve your credit score before a specific event — a mortgage application, a car loan, a lease — timing is everything. A tradeline that posts one day before your lender pulls your credit is worth the full purchase price. A tradeline that posts one day after is worth nothing for that application.
Our recommendation: if you have a specific deadline, purchase your tradeline at least 45 days in advance. This gives you a full reporting cycle of buffer time. If the tradeline posts early, great. If it posts at the end of the window, you still have time before your deadline. Do not cut it close — the stakes are too high.
Not necessarily. Different card issuers report to different bureaus. Some report to all three — Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. Some report to only one or two. This matters because different lenders pull different bureaus. Mortgage lenders typically pull all three and use the middle score. Auto lenders may pull just one. Before you buy a tradeline, confirm which bureaus it posts to and make sure it aligns with the bureau your target lender uses.
Once the tradeline posts to your credit report, your score will be recalculated the next time a lender pulls your report or the next time the bureau runs a score refresh. The impact on your score depends on your existing credit profile — specifically your current utilization ratio, the average age of your accounts, and the number of open accounts you have.
Tradelines are typically rented for one or two reporting cycles. After the rental period ends, you are removed as an authorized user and the account will eventually drop off your report. The score impact may persist for some time after removal, depending on your overall credit profile at that point.
Prime Tradelines guarantees that every tradeline we sell will post to at least one of the three major credit bureaus within the stated window. If a tradeline does not post, we will provide a replacement tradeline of equal or greater value, or issue a full refund. We stand behind every tradeline we sell — because your trust is worth more to us than any single transaction.
